ISO26262 : the Matured EGAS Monitorng Concept

EGAS working group members are German OEMs. They had the monitoring concept of EGAS system as "De facto" respectively. Therefore, they couldn't find any difference from each, agreed to make the standard of EGAS system. You can see the fact that they are all VDA members.

ISO26262, the standard of functional safety, was released by (mostly)VDA. 

You might guess two standards will have some relationship or similarity.

German Association of the Automotive industry. Germany leads the automotive industry. As you know, Germany has a lot of famous OEMs and suppliers. they made standards of all kinds of automotive stuff.

Child and adult  

According to IAV, 

When ISO 26262 came into effect, the working group analyzed the requirements of IS0 26262 in a new version and adapted the specification to meet them accordingly. 

EGAS group follows ISO26262 to meet the global standard because previous EGAS document's base was "de facto" when you read v6 of EGAS document, you will find about lockstep core. if LC used in the system, the system will support "ASIL B" by Hardware. LC helps to reduce hardware work load while CPU calculates. you will find MCU manufactures make automotive MCU contained LC.


In conclusion, EGAS monitoring concept is the root of ISO26262, ISO26262 feeds EGAS monitoring concept. so it is like EGAS is a child(small and growing up)and 26262 is an adult(matured and include all E/E system).
